Author Guidelines

Publication rules

Authors must send their texts in Word format (doc, docx) in any of its versions.

1. Articles content

Articles must contain between 15 and 40 pages long (except for abstracts, keywords and summary). Although, exceptionally, articles up to 50 pages may be admitted. In that case, authors may provide a brief explanation about the length extension of the article.

Acta judicial provides a proper format template (template). The use of the Journal´s template is mandatory.

Articles must contain the following elements:

  1. Title of the article, both in Spanish and English.
  2. Full name of the author or authors (maximum 4), indicating their affiliation (profession or academic activity) and an electronic contact address.
  3. An abstract of 250 words maximum (both in Spanish and English).
  4. Keywords: No more than 10 words, separated by commas, are allowed for each language, with a maximum of 2 lines.
  5. Summary, consisting of the headings and sub-headings of the article.
  6. The text of the article including the tables and figures (if any).
  7. A complete list of the bibliographic references shall be included at the end of article. The bibliographic references will be arranged in alphabetical order. In case of multiple citation of the same author chronological order of the publication date shall be used.
  8. Authors may incorporate appropriate hyperlinks, blue style and avoiding underlined.
  9. Authors shall indicate, if there is any type of conflict of interest at the end of the article, and if there is any kind of financing, public or private, supporting the research.

2. Articles format

The use of the Journal´'s template is mandatory. The editorial board shall ask authors to fulfill this requirement. Not following this instruction may lead to articles refusal.

The template format standards as follow:

  1. Sheet size. Articles must be written on the following premises: Paper size A4, with 3 cm margins on each side (top, bottom, left and right), with Palatino Linotype base font, 12 point size and single spacing, without any line spacing. In a single column. “Special indentation” in “first line” of 1.25 cm (click here to see how to do it in Word).
  2. Title of the article in Spanish. It must be in Capital Letter, Palatino Linotype 14, centered in bold (Style “Título 1” of the template).
  3. Title of the article in English. It must be in Lowercase, Palatino Linotype 12, centered in bold (Style “Title in English” of the template).
  4. Authors. The name and surname of the authors must appear, in Palatino Linotype 12 font, centered (Style “Título 2” of the template).
  5. Authors affiliation, such as profession, academic activity, etc., in Palatino Linotype 10, centered (Style “Filiación” of the template).
  6. Author email: The author's contact email must be included in Palatino Linotype 10, (Style “Filiación” of the template).
  7. Abstracts. They must have a maximum length of 250 words, in Palatino Linotype 10, justified (Style “Normal” of the template).
  8. Keywords. There must be between five and ten words, both in Spanish and English, separated by commas in Palatino Linotype 10 justified (Style “Normal” of the template).
  9. Article body. With Palatino Linotype base font, 12 point size and single spacing, paragraph justified, without spacing before and after. In a single column. Only “Special indentation” in “first line” of 1.25 cm (click here to see how to do it in Word).
  10. Headings and sub-headings (epigraph and sub epigraph). The titles of the different sections (epigraph and sub epigraph) must appear in lowercase and bold, preceded by the corresponding non – automatic numbering, considering the following structure:

                 Please leave a space between epigraph and the next paragraph.

                 Headings and sub-headings (epigraph and sub epigraph) must be activated "Widows/Orphan control" and "Keep with next" (in "Pagination" of "Lines and page breaks" of the "Paragraph" section of Word (click here to see how to do it in Word)

  1. Footnotes. Footnotes will be numbered consecutively at the end of each page in Palatino Linotype 10 justified, single spacing, paragraph justified, without spacing before and after. Click here for footnotes consultation.
  2.  Page numbering. The page numbers will be aligned to the right in Palatino Linotype 10.13. Bibliography. A complete list of the bibliographic references shall be included at the end of article. The bibliographic references will be arranged in alphabetical order. In case of multiple citation of the same author chronological order of the publication date shall be used.
  1. Hyperlinks. Authors may incorporate appropriate hyperlinks, blue style and avoiding underline, unless it states a citation or legal reference. In that case the citation standards must be complied.

 

3. Citation format

Citation format shall follow ISO 690:2010 Standard, whose equivalent is the UNE-ISO 690: 2013 standard at the Spanish framework (translated by AENOR).

As prescribed by the abovementioned standard, Acta Judicial encourages authors to follow the continuous citation system.

Citation: Numbers shall be inserted in each citation consecutively. If there are several citations of the same resource, a note number will be used for each mention.

Reference: References shall be presented in numerical order. If it refers to a resource already mentioned (resource cited as a previous note), either the full reference may be repeated, or the number of the previous citation may be settle, adding the prior page number that contain that reference. - Data sources: Data managed to comply each reference shall be included as appears at the original source (whenever possible). In order of preference, firstly shall be considered the information contained at the cover page (or home page of a website, audiovisual labels, etc.). Other parts of the publication may be considered if necessary (title page verso, masthead, etc.; cover or label permanently associated with the document).

You can add elements that do not appear in the source document (book, journal), in order to complete the location. These elements must be enclosed in square brackets [ ]

3.1. Some examples of bibliographic references that comply with the UNE-ISO 690: 2013 standard.

Printed books and similar monographic publication

AUTOR NAME. Book Title (italic). Edition (if it is not the first editon). Place of pubication: Editor, Date of publication. Range of pages,  (ISBN, ...) (if possible)

Para las obras con más de tres autores, se recomienda dar todos los nombres. Si se elige no mencionar a todos los autores, se dará el nombre del primer autor seguido de "y otros" o "et al."

  • When registering, do not use all capital letters; adapting your personal data if bibliometric parameters are to be taken into account. In this case, add a short hyphen between compound names and surnames. Your article complies with the publication standards, both in terms of length and mandatory elements.
  • The article shall comply with the required format. For that purpose, a template is available for authors, using Palatino Linotype font, 12-point size and single spacing. A detailed explanation regarding the proper format required format is available for authors.
